praises of Allah

Praises of Allah – Glorifying the Creator of the Heavens and the Earth

“And to Allah belong the best names, so invoke Him by them…”
(Surah Al-A’raf 7:180)

The praises of Allah (Hamd, Tasbeeh, Tahmeed, Takbeer, Tahlil) are not only words of devotion but are keys to spiritual light, forgiveness, inner peace, and closeness to our Lord. When a believer praises Allah, they affirm His perfection, majesty, and absolute oneness. It is one of the most beloved acts in the sight of Allah.

1. What Does It Mean to Praise Allah?

To praise Allah is to:

  • Acknowledge His greatness and perfection

  • Glorify His names and attributes

  • Express gratitude for His blessings

  • Declare His Oneness and Power

  • Submit with love and awe

The Arabic word "Hamd" (الحمد) means praising with love, respect, and gratitude. This is why Alhamdulillah (All praise is due to Allah) is the first verse in the Qur'an and a central part of every Muslim's life.

📖 2. Praises of Allah in the Qur’an

🕋 a. "Alhamdulillah" – All Praise Is for Allah

"ٱلْـحَمْدُ لِلَّـهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ"
“All praise is for Allah – Lord of all the worlds.”
(Surah Al-Fatiha 1:2)

Explanation:
This praise covers every type of gratitude and recognition of Allah’s lordship, mercy, and sustenance.

🌿 b. "Subhan Allah" – Glory Be to Allah

"سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ"
“Glory be to Allah, above what they associate with Him.”
(Surah As-Saffat 37:159)

Meaning:
“SubhanAllah” affirms that Allah is free from all defects, weaknesses, or human-like attributes.

💬 c. "La ilaha illallah" – There is No God But Allah

"اللَّهُ لَا إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۚ لَهُ ٱلْأَسْمَآءُ ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ"
“Allah – there is no deity except Him. To Him belong the best names.”
(Surah Taha 20:8)
