Dhikr for All Times (General Daily Remembrance)

These remembrances are recommended throughout the day and night — not tied to a specific time, but always beneficial for the heart and soul.


1. SubhanAllah – سُبْحَانَ ٱللَّهِ

Meaning: “Glory be to Allah.”
Translation: Declaring that Allah is free from all imperfection, defects, and partners.

🔹 Qur’an Reference:

“And glorify the praises of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before its setting…”
(Surah Qaf 50:39)

🔹 Hadith Reference:

“Two words are light on the tongue, heavy in the balance, and beloved to the Most Merciful:
SubhanAllahi wa bihamdihi, SubhanAllahil-‘Azim.
(Sahih al-Bukhari 6682, Sahih Muslim 2694)


2. Alhamdulillah – ٱلْـحَمْدُ لِلَّـهِ

Meaning: “All praise and thanks are for Allah.”

🔹 Qur’an Reference:

“[All] praise is [due] to Allah, Lord of the worlds.”
(Surah Al-Fatiha 1:2)

🔹 Hadith Reference:

“Alhamdulillah fills the scale.”
(Sahih Muslim 223)

Benefit: Expresses gratitude and earns massive reward. It fills the Mizaan (scale) on the Day of Judgment.


3. Allahu Akbar – ٱللّٰهُ أَكْبَرُ

Meaning: “Allah is the Greatest.”

🔹 Hadith Reference:

“The most beloved words to Allah are four:
SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah, La ilaha illallah, and Allahu Akbar.
(Sahih Muslim 2137)

Benefit: Reminds you that nothing is greater than Allah — helps in controlling ego and anxiety.


4. La ilaha illallah – لَا إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّٰهُ

Meaning: “There is no god worthy of worship except Allah.”

🔹 Qur’an Reference:

“So know, [O Muhammad], that there is no deity except Allah...”
(Surah Muhammad 47:19)

🔹 Hadith Reference:

“The best remembrance is:
La ilaha illallah.
(Tirmidhi 3383 – Hasan)

Benefit: The core of Islam (Tawheed), wipes out sins, brings forgiveness.


5. Astaghfirullah – أَسْتَغْفِرُ ٱللَّهَ

Meaning: “I seek forgiveness from Allah.”

🔹 Qur’an Reference:

“Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever a Perpetual Forgiver.”
(Surah Nuh 71:10)

🔹 Hadith Reference:

The Prophet ﷺ said:
“By Allah, I seek forgiveness from Allah and turn to Him in repentance more than seventy times a day.”
(Sahih Bukhari 6307)

Benefit: Cleanses the heart, removes sins, brings blessings and rizq (sustenance).


6. SubhanAllahi wa bihamdihi – سُبْحَانَ ٱللَّهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ

Meaning: “Glory is to Allah and all praise is to Him.”

🔹 Hadith Reference:

“Whoever says ‘SubhanAllahi wa bihamdihi’ 100 times a day, his sins will be forgiven even if they were as much as the foam of the sea.”
(Sahih Bukhari 6405, Sahih Muslim 2691)


7. La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah – لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ

Meaning: “There is no power nor strength except with Allah.”

🔹 Hadith Reference:

The Prophet ﷺ said:
“It is a treasure from the treasures of Paradise.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari 6384, Sahih Muslim 2704)

Benefit: Brings reliance on Allah, removes stress, protects from calamities.


8. Hasbiyallahu la ilaha illa Huwa – حَسْبِيَ ٱللَّهُ لَا إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ

Meaning: “Allah is Sufficient for me; there is no deity except Him.”

🔹 Qur’an Reference:

“Those to whom hypocrites said, ‘Indeed, the people have gathered against you…’ But it only increased them in faith, and they said:
Hasbunallahu wa ni‘mal wakeel.”

(Surah Aal-e-Imran 3:173)

Benefit: Helps in times of fear, difficulty, and uncertainty. Increases tawakkul (trust in Allah).


9. La ilaha illa Anta Subhanaka inni kuntu minaz-zalimeen – لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنتُ مِنَ ٱلظَّالِمِينَ

Meaning: “There is no deity except You; Glory be to You; indeed, I was among the wrongdoers.”

🔹 Qur’an Reference:

This is the Dua of Yunus (A.S.) in the belly of the whale.
(Surah Al-Anbiya 21:87)

🔹 Hadith Reference:

The Prophet ﷺ said:
“No one says this dua except that Allah relieves him of his distress.”
(Tirmidhi 3505 – Hasan)


10. Bismillah – بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ

Meaning: “In the name of Allah.”

🔹 Qur’an Reference:

It begins every Surah (except Surah At-Tawbah).
(Surah An-Naml 27:30)

Sunnah Uses:
Say Bismillah before:

  • Eating

  • Entering or leaving the house

  • Starting any work

  • Wudu (Ablution)

Benefit: Brings barakah, protection from Shaytan, and reminds us to start every task with Allah’s name.


🌙 BONUS: Tasbeeh Fatimah (Night Dhikr Sunnah)

The Prophet ﷺ taught Fatimah (R.A):

🔹 SubhanAllah – 33 times
🔹 Alhamdulillah – 33 times
🔹 Allahu Akbar – 34 times
(Total = 100)

Benefit: Helps relieve tiredness and hardship.
(Sahih Bukhari 3705, Sahih Muslim 2727)


📌 Final Reminder:

“And the men and women who remember Allah often – for them, Allah has prepared forgiveness and a great reward.”
(Surah Al-Ahzab 33:35)
