Qur'an Verses for Sadness and Comfort
1. Surah At-Tawbah (9:51)
اللَّهُمَّ لَا يُصِيبُنَا إِلَّا مَا كَتَبَ اللَّهُ لَنَا
"Say: Nothing will happen to us except what Allah has written for us. He is our Protector. And in Allah let the believers put their trust."
(Qur’an 9:51)
🔹 Meaning: Everything is under Allah’s control. Whatever happens is part of His divine wisdom. Trust in Him.
2. Surah Ash-Sharh (94:5–6)
فَإِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا، إِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا
"So, verily, with hardship comes ease. Indeed, with hardship comes ease."
(Qur’an 94:5-6)
🔹 Meaning: Every difficulty is followed by relief. Allah promises that ease will always come with hardship.
3. Surah Al-Baqarah (2:286)
لَا يُكَلِّفُ اللَّهُ نَفْسًا إِلَّا وُسْعَهَا
"Allah does not burden a soul beyond what it can bear."
(Qur’an 2:286)
🔹 Meaning: Whatever you’re going through, Allah knows you can handle it.
🌸 Hadith for Sadness and Emotional Relief
1. Dua of the Prophet ﷺ in Distress:
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْهَمِّ وَالْحَزَنِ
"O Allah, I seek refuge in You from worry and grief..."
— Sahih al-Bukhari 6369🔹 Meaning: The Prophet ﷺ taught us to seek Allah’s help when sad or anxious.
2. Hadith – Allah is near the brokenhearted:
"Indeed, Allah is with the broken-hearted."
— (Narrated by Ibn Majah, authentic in meaning)🔹 Meaning: When your heart is broken, Allah is closest to you. He sees your pain.
3. Hadith – Reward for Patience in Sadness
“Never is a believer stricken with discomfort, illness, anxiety, grief, or mental worry — even the pricking of a thorn — but that Allah expiates his sins because of it.”
— Sahih al-Bukhari 5641, Sahih Muslim🔹 Meaning: Your sadness is not wasted. Every tear you shed is a source of reward and purification.

"Hasbunallahu wa ni’mal wakeel"
حَسْبُنَا اللَّهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيلُ"Allah is Sufficient for us, and He is the Best Disposer of affairs. — Qur’an
